I broke my hand during a basketball game, so I would be minimising my typing time for these few weeks.
End of something else too.
This is a new chapter in my life.
Today, I woke up again with a heavy burden in my heart for my church once again. Week after week, it is increasingly becoming dry. There is a lack of an inner life and the outworkings of the Holy Spirit. People come to church, not to seek after God, but to seek a satisfaction for themselves, be it in friendship with others or to organising activities and feeling good about the things that they do in church.
My heart griefs for how the gospel is being prostituted by people who call themselves Christians, whether they are christians in the first place or not. My heart griefs for how God is the least sought after thing in church, but rather methods on how to do stuff in life.
Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob God?” Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, “How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.’
I’ve just woken up from sleep and a dream. I can still vaguely recall excerpts of my dream. I dreamt that I was a basketball captain, attempting to lead a group of guys and girls, in pre-game warm-ups. I had a tough time doing it, as people were simply unconcerned and happily doing their own things. There were some who would disappear suddenly while we were doing the stretches. There were others who were chatting amongst themselves and not at the least interested to do the stretches properly. To sum it up, there was a serious lack of team effort and a common goal.
And so I awoken with a grim realisation of how this mirrored the situation in church. We are all like players on a team, training for a common goal of winning games. However, it seems as if people are only interested in using the training session to satisfy their own agendas. Some came to meet up with friends. Some came to have fun. Only few came with the desire to train as a team and work towards a common goal.
This is exactly how we are robbing God. The church is robbing God of His church. Read the rest of this entry »
The modern church is being plagued by the influence of the world. This is a message by Paul Washer about the problems of the modern church today:
Here is a list of the 10 indictments (To be updated):
1) A Practical Denial of the sufficiency of Scripture
2) An ignorance of God
3) A failure to address man’s malady
4) An ignorance of the gospel of Jesus Christ
It is so comforting to know that there are people everywhere in the world who is praying with their burdens for the church. This proves that God is working. God is doing His work in the world today!
Let us all christians desire a geniune revival for the church of God and pray towards it!
